Sheaves of Silence
Published in Paperback by Lost Coast Press (October, 2002)
Author: Adams
Average review score:

Brief and succinct verse to explore human passions
Adams raises the writing of poetry to the level of a fine literary art in the pages of Sheaves Of Silence as she uses brief and succinct verse to explore human passions, interconnectedness, future and past, and the dualities of life and experience. Silence: Noise bothers me. The sound of/radio, television, speeding cars,/talking laughing, voices -- any/noise invades my inner silence/where thoughts spring new and/wander in a nebulous world spread/out beyond my usual self. There, in/my inner silence, lies an unknown/realm for exploration, challenging/my imagination to carry me beyond/the present known to that final/unlimited forever.

Great Book!
This is a terriffic book for use in the music classroom, and at home. As a book that can be either sung or read, it is versatile. It's large size and colorful illustrations draw kids attention. I have personally found it to be very effective with my kindergarten through third grade students. I highly reccommend it to anyone looking for a good book for younger kids that can be sung or read!

Warm and heart-filling!
This is a group of poems from the heart. It captures the essence of growing up in a large family in a Mexican border town. It is truely one of the best group of contempory peoms I have read. I am a bit prejudice tho, I am his sister.

A Book To Dream On
The story of a young Plains Indian who traveled to Europe in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Rodeo, this book is extraordinary and moving. The story is fun, but it is the illustrations that bring this book to the level of genuine art: the pictures are completely magical. This book transformed my day after reading it: I felt renewed by it's beauty and innocence.

Where's the 15 minutes?
... She's obviously one of the best, undiscovered writers in the world!! She first came to my attention through my fiance, who'd torn a poem from a 1997 edition of the "New Yorker" for keeping. After the events of September 11th, she was going through a pile of papers and came across that same poem. To her [and subsequently, myself] the poem resonated deeply with what we were going through. The name of that poem is "In the City of What Once Was" and it appears in this brilliant collection. Her work is alternately beautiful and mournful and it speaks eloquently of her experiences in a war-ravaged land [Ms. Ursa's work has been translated from her native Romanian]. She is at once lyrical, sad and evocative. I urge anyone interested in great poetry to BUY THIS BOOK. I'd also recommend that the major American publishers take a good look at her work!!!

TERRIFIC BOOK!
This is one of the cleverest retellings of the story of Adam and Eve that I've ever seen! Whether you know the story or not, you'll love what the author has done. The illustrations are perfect for the text. A fun read for all!

Takes the theory of english local history into a new dimensi
An intellectually stimulating introduction by Professor Adams combined with three essays that show how his approach can illuminate approaches to the study of small communities. This is a must for anyone wishing to understand how housholds, communities and urban-rural societies form the building blocks of national history.

The Sociopath

Chilling!
Donald Eckman was dying. Nothing would stop that, but he planned to take quite a few low-lifes with him! Eckman was a man who had it all planned out and was cold-blooded enough to do it.

Roosevelt Holmes had raped, maimed, and/or killed over thirty-four women, girls, and boys. Yet his sentence was only two years. He was released early, for good behavior, thinking he could easily continue if he was just a bit more careful. However, he was not the only one counting down his days and hours until freedom.

Nancy Rausch kept tabs on Holmes. She planned her revenge carefully, all the way down to how she would castrate him. Chris would help her get him. Chris also had planned revenge...on the world! Chris had set up a way to rid the Earth of much of its scum. A bit of IVG-5 introduced into the Minneapolis waterworks would work for starts.

***** Never have I read a book like this one. We have all heard of Hannibal. He was labeled (correctly, I might add) a Cannibal. Now meet those with the label Sociopath. Many with this mental disorder get rich because they do things "normal" people would not dare. Others end up poor, due to the same reason, or in prison. But some are like this!

Here is a book that will keep you up late into the night reading! You will never look at the strangers around you the same way again! Highly recommended reading! *****

Sons of Liberty

Authors: Adam Rutledge and Charlie O'Dowd
Average review score:

The first book in an exciting historiacal-romance series.
This book is the first in a series about a band of spies for the patriots in the Revolution, sort of a Days of our Lives meets George Washington. The writing is brisk and the plot interesting enough to keep you waiting to start the next book. A great read for a summer vacation or a snowy day. I have read the series twice already.
